Will Ferrell's New Movie Will Make Fun of Ronald Reagan

From Lincoln to Bush, via Kennedy and Nixon, many actors have portrayed US Presidents over the years. Ronald Reagan looks to be the next former Commander-in-Chief to be portrayed on screen, with Will Ferrell set to play him the comedy Reagan.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ferrell is attached to star in and produce the film. The script for Reagan was written by Mike Rosolio, and is currently on the Black List. This is an annual survey of the best unproduced screenplays doing the rounds in Hollywood–other notable Black List scripts that have been subsequently produced in recent years include Argo, Whiplash, American Sniper, and The Imitation Game.

As reported by THR, the official synopsis for Reagan is:

When Ronald Reagan falls into dementia at the start of his second term, an ambitious intern is tasked with convincing the Commander-In-Chief that he is an actor playing the President in a movie.

Ferrell himself is no stranger to playing a President, having portrayed George W. Bush on Saturday Night Live many times during the last decade. And this won’t be first time Reagan has been been portrayed onscreen either. Last year, Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell played the former actor in the second season of FX’s highly acclaimed Fargo.
