It’s not entirely unusual for a movie to come out and be either missing scenes from its trailers or using different versions of those scenes. Rogue One is no exception, though it does seem to be missing quite a few shots from the trailers.

Film editor Vashi Nedomansky has put together a video that compiles all of these moments from the many trailers, teasers, and ads released in the run up to Rogue One‘s release last week. There are a total of 46 missing shots included in the video, though it’s anyone’s guess why they didn’t end up in the movie.

Some of the shots–like the first time we saw Darth Vader in a trailer and Ben Mendelsohn’s Orson Krennic standing with his arms crossed–are ones that had stood out to me in the trailers, so their absence came as a real surprise.

Others, particularly the conversation between protagonist Jyn Erso and leaders of the Rebel Alliance, seem to point towards adjustment to the story. We know the film underwent reshoots led by writer Tony Gilroy. While their significance has been downplayed by those involved, it’s possible the differences between these missing shots and the final movie can be explained by changes that arose during that process.
