Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed). It stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, and as these pictures confirm, Martin Freeman will reprise his role as Everett K. Ross from last year’s Captain America: Civil War. The movie will also feature Angela Bassett (Olympus Has Fallen), Lupita Nyong’o (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Danai Guira (The Walking Dead), Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario), and Forest Whittaker (Star Wars: Rogue One).

In a recent interview with CBR, Boseman explained that Black Panther was a different hero to the likes of Iron Man or Ant-Man, and this would influence the film. “For me, most of the time the darker superhero movies are the ones that I gravitate towards, that I love the most,” he said. “I’m glad that the tone of [Black Panther] may be a little grittier.”

“I just wanted to establish that from the beginning, that that’s what we were doing,” he continued, referring to the character’s first appearance in Civil War. “That that’s what I intend to do. I feel like we’ll end up in a place that I’ve always wanted to be when I look at superhero movies. Those are the ones I like the most. It’s exciting to do that.”

Black Panther hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
