Pokemon Go Might Get More Gen 2 Pokemon Soon, Data Mine Reveals

Pokemon Go may get new Generation 2 monsters soon, if a new data mine is to be believed.

Community site The Silph Road has dug into the game’s latest update, which includes items that evolve monsters into more advanced forms–in the mainline games, at least.

The King’s Rock, Sun Stone, Dragon Scale, Metal Coat, and Upgrade items have all been patched in, suggesting evolutions of existing Pokemon may come to the mobile hit soon.

Silph Road has also uncovered files pertaining to forms of the mysterious Pokemon Unown. Unown is currently not available in Pokemon Go, but this latest leak indicates that may not be the case for long.

Elsewhere in the data mine are additional avatar customization options, more code for shiny and gendered critters, and assets for 38 new moves. It should be noted that none of this content is currently available in-game, but it may come in the future.

The update itself arrived just recently, improving GPS tracking and fixing a number of minor text bugs.

Pokemon Go has been extensively datamined in the past. Community members had previously uncovered the existence of shiny monsters, as well as files for over 100 new Pokemon. Some of those critters arrived in a December 2016 update, before developer Niantic teased more may come soon.
