Resident Evil 7 Support's Microsoft's Cross-Buy System on Xbox One and PC

It’s not much of a surprise, but Xbox boss Phil Spencer officially confirmed today on Twitter that Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 is an Xbox Play Anywhere title. That means if you buy it digitally on Xbox One or PC, you will have access to it on the other platform.

All progress, extra content, gamerscore, and achievements move between platforms, so you can start on one system and move to another without having to start over. Note that this is only for the Windows 10 PC version of Resident Evil 7.

In November, it was reported that Resident Evil 7 would support cross-saves between Xbox One and PC, suggesting that it would be an Xbox Play Anywhere title.

Resident Evil 7 is not the only third-party Xbox Play Anywhere title, as Astroneer and Everspace are as well. First-party games Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and ReCore are also Xbox Play Anywhere games. Upcoming titles in the program include Halo Wars 2, Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, and State of Decay 2.

Resident Evil 7 launches on January 24; it is also coming to PlayStation 4. You don’t have to wait until then to try it, however, as a free demo is currently available on all platforms.
